The Journey

The short version of how Cameron Tran got here — and where it’s going.

Age 12 — the first business

A lawn-care company in Southwest Michigan. The first lesson stuck: do the work like the people counting on you are family.

Western Michigan University — finance

A finance degree paired the operating instinct with an allocator’s lens.

CT Cleaners — built with Dad

With his father, Ronald Tran, Cameron built CT Cleaners from nothing in Kalamazoo into one of the largest janitorial companies in Southwest Michigan.

Optimal Facility Services — going national

OFS took the family’s standard nationwide as one accountable national partner.

Investera Holdings — buy and build

Investera is the next chapter: acquire ordinary service businesses and make them scalable with systems and AI — building a portfolio, not flipping companies.

CleanControl & ABOS — the edge

CleanControl and ABOS are the software and operating system that run the portfolio and create durable differentiators across every company in it.

The lessons that carried over

Every chapter taught something that shows up in the next one. The lawn-care years taught service and accountability. CT Cleaners taught how to build a real operation — hiring, standards, and earning trust one clean building at a time. Optimal Facility Services taught how to hold that standard across many markets at once. And Investera is teaching how to do it again and again, as a repeatable system rather than a one-off.

What’s next

The path forward is more of the same discipline at greater scale: acquire good service businesses, install the ABOS operating system, sharpen them with CleanControl and better leadership, and keep them for the long run. Build better-run businesses, lift the communities they serve, and prove the buy-and-build thesis over and over.

Age 12: lawns and the first payroll lessons

Cameron Tran’s entrepreneurial life started with a lawn-care business as a kid in Southwest Michigan. It sounds small, but it taught the things that never stop mattering: how to sell, how to show up, how to keep a customer happy, and how to do the work even when nobody is checking. Those summers were the first version of every business he has built since — service done well, promises kept, pride in the details.

Western Michigan University: the allocator’s lens

A finance degree from Western Michigan University added a second discipline on top of the operating instinct. It changed how he reads a business — margins, cash flow, where a dollar earns the best long-term return — and it is the reason he thinks like an allocator, not just an operator. The combination is rare and it is the core of how he runs the portfolio today.

CT Cleaners: building a real company with Dad

With his father, Ronald Tran, Cameron built CT Cleaners from nothing in Kalamazoo into one of the largest janitorial companies in Southwest Michigan. This was the proving ground — hiring, training, standards, accountability, and the slow, compounding trust that comes from cleaning one building right, then the next, then a hundred more. It is where the operating playbook was written.

Optimal Facility Services: taking the standard national

Holding a standard in one market is hard; holding it across many is harder. Optimal Facility Services was built to do exactly that — to give organizations across the country one accountable national partner instead of a different unknown vendor in every city. It proved the model could travel.

Investera Holdings: doing it on purpose, again and again

Everything before led here. Investera Holdings turns a one-off success into a repeatable system: acquire good service businesses, steward and strengthen them, and keep them. The lessons from every prior chapter — service, accountability, finance, standards, scale — are the operating manual.

CleanControl and ABOS: building the edge

The newest chapter is software. CleanControl productizes the operating know-how for cleaning companies, and ABOS is the operating system installed across the whole portfolio. Together they are the durable advantage behind the buy-and-build thesis.

What is next

More of the same discipline at greater scale — acquire, install the system, strengthen, and hold for the long run. Build better-run businesses, take care of the people in them, and prove the thesis over and over.

From a first business at twelve to a portfolio

Cameron Tran’s journey started early. His first venture came at age twelve, and the entrepreneurial instinct never left. He earned a finance degree from Western Michigan University, then built CT Cleaners into one of the largest janitorial companies in Southwest Michigan — not through a single big break, but by doing the unglamorous work exceptionally well, one building and one kept promise at a time.

The father-and-son chapter

The story at the heart of it is a father-and-son one: Cameron Tran and his father, Ronald Tran, building together. Ronald Tran — a devoted family man who raised three children and is a proud grandfather of two — brought a simple, powerful drive to make the facilities and community around him better. That drive became the mission behind the companies: make it better, for the people who work in these spaces and the communities they serve.

From one region to nationwide

Proving the model regionally with CT Cleaners led naturally to the next chapter: Optimal Facility Services, taking the same standard nationwide as one accountable national partner. Behind both, Cameron Tran began building the systems — CleanControl and ABOS — that would let the standard travel and compound.

The bigger arc

What started as a cleaning company became a thesis: buy ordinary service businesses and make them scalable, under Investera Holdings. The journey from a twelve-year-old’s first venture to a West Michigan-rooted, nationally-ambitious portfolio is really one continuous idea — operate well, make systems the edge, make it better, keep it. Still early

For all that’s been built, Cameron Tran sees this as early days. The thesis — buy ordinary service businesses and make them scalable — has years of compounding ahead of it, and the systems behind CleanControl and ABOS are just getting started. The journey from a twelve-year-old’s first venture to a nationwide company is really the first chapter of a much longer story. Learn more about Cameron Tran.
